The Records Section is your first contact when entering or calling the Police Department. Our staff provides record keeping functions for the Department, complies with mandated statistical reporting for the State Department of Justice relating to crime in the City of O'Fallon and provides various support services to our citizens.

Services we provide to the public include:

Fingerprinting

The Police Department provides a service of fingerprinting City of O’Fallon residents who need fingerprints taken for various reasons. Fingerprinting will be completed 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. There is no cost for this service.


Police reports

A written request is required to obtain copies of police reports.

Accident reports are usually approved and ready for release 7–10 days after the occurrence. Most accident reports are obtained by insurance companies who submit a written request, along with a self-addressed stamped envelope. There is NO CHARGE for a single accident report. For multiple reports, there is a $27.00 per hour research fee, plus .10 cents per page fee.

Criminal reports may or may not be available, as outlined under the public record laws. Upon completion of a written request, open records are researched and copied at a cost of $27.00 per hour, plus .10 cents per page.

Incident reports contain only date, time of occurrence, type of call and (usually) the victim's name. They are available upon written request.


Local records check

A $5.00 is charged to do a local criminal history search. Only incidents that have occurred within the City limits will be checked. No third party searches can be conducted for non-law enforcement personnel.

Subject requesting search must show a government issued photo ID. Results may take up to three business days to return.
