Yes. Volunteer O’Fallon will work with you to develop a project that suits the interests and capabilities of your group. Potential projects must meet the needs of our partnering departments, and are typically scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am and 5pm. Limited weekend and evening dates are available.

No. You will only need to complete one application for you and/or your family, group, business or organization, which will be used for current, upcoming and future placements at city events and programs. However, you may be asked to complete a new application if you have not volunteered within three consecutive years, or the length of our application retention period.

Some volunteer opportunities may require additional paperwork as necessary. This might include volunteer blood donors, department positions, or positions requiring additional background checks.

Volunteer O’Fallon accepts court-mandated volunteers who meet the following criteria:

• Court-mandated volunteer must be 18 years or older
• Offense must be traffic-related and verified via copy of court-order
• Offense cannot have happened within the city limits of O’Fallon, Missouri, nor be mandated through O’Fallon’s courts

If the court-mandated volunteer meets the above criteria, and there is a position available, then he or she will be asked to complete a background check before placement is scheduled.

If the court-mandated volunteer does not meet the above criteria, he or she will not be placed.

All court-mandated hours will be completed Monday – Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. and/or 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Weekend and evening hours are not available.

Volunteer O’Fallon follows the recommended retention of “Volunteer Worker Records” as outlined in the General Records Retention Schedule (PDF) provided by the Missouri Secretary of State.

After a minimum of three consecutive years of inactivity, all personal records pertaining to a volunteer and their family, group, business or organization are destroyed.

If a new application is received by Volunteer O’Fallon, and the new applicant does not interact with Volunteer O’Fallon to complete the application process and/or is not placed in a volunteer position, the application will be retained for a maximum of three months. After three months, the new application will be destroyed.

Volunteer O’Fallon maintains all personal volunteer information in an encrypted database, and does not share personal information with third parties.

Yes. We verify hours for class and club service required by your school, with the exception of hours related to disciplinary requirements. Students needing to complete service hours for their school should complete the K-12 Student Application.

You can choose to volunteer as an individual at one of the City’s many events, or can schedule a private volunteer project for your group.

We also verify hours for scouts, churches, colleges and other organizations.

Volunteer Services coordinates unpaid, volunteer internships with various divisions within the City of O’Fallon. These internships may be available to undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students depending on the division requirements. The City of O’Fallon’s unpaid, volunteer internships are available during the fall, summer and spring semesters, and will meet the requirements of your college. To be eligible, you must have completed a minimum of 60 hours of college coursework.

To apply for an unpaid, volunteer internship, submit your cover letter and résumé to volunteer@ofallon.mo.us with the internship title as the subject line. Once your resume and cover letter have been received, Volunteer Services staff will contact you about your status and next steps.

Individuals, families, groups, businesses and organizations should complete the online Application as the first step to becoming a volunteer with the City of O’Fallon, Missouri.

K-12 students who are completing service hours for a class or school-related extracurricular should complete the online K-12 Student Application.

After you have submitted your application, Volunteer Services staff will contact you via the email address you provide to discuss your volunteer interests, and will work with you to find an opportunity that fits.

You may be asked to complete an in-person interview, with additional paperwork and background checks, pending the volunteer position requirements. Volunteer positions range in level of commitment and skills. Our goal is to find a position that is right for you.

Adopt-A-Siren – The O’Fallon Police Department needs help to monitor each of the tornado sirens in the City’s Outdoor Warning Siren system and report whether or not specific sirens are working properly.
